There is a big difference between ee and ithu even thouh both mean 'this'. ee is always acts like an adjective (eg. hot, beautiful, strong etc) So ee or aa are used to point an object or person.
strong boy, beautiful girl, hot air
ee pen = this pen (ithu pen is not correct)
ee car ente aanu = this car is mine
aa pen ninte aanu = that pen is yours
aa car ente alla = that car is not mine
ithu pen aanu/aakunnu = this is a pen
athu car aakunnu = that is a car
