Adverbs are describing the nature of the verbs or an action. For example: slowly, (to go slowly... ), fast, lovingly, heavily etc. In Malayalam, adverbs can be made by adding 'thil' to the nouns which are related to the nature of an action/verb. But there are also exceptions.
veegam = speed veegathil = fast
melle = slowly
kanam = thickness, weight kanathil = heavily
sneeham = love, affection sneehathil = lovingly
ishtam = love, affection ishtathil = lovingly
veegathil pookuka = go fast
melle varuka = come slowly
sneehathil parayuka = say lovingly
aduthu pidikkuka = hold closely
Note that in Malayalam, the adverb always preceding the verb. But in English, it always follows the verb. But this rule is not same for adjectives (eg. beautiful, slow, lovely etc). Adjective word always precede the noun in both Malayalam and English.
Malayalam does not have the "fast -faster-fastest" type of form. If you want to say something is more then you have to add either one of the following words in front of the adverb.
kuuduthal = more
valare = very
valare kuuduthal = very more =most
kuuduthal veegathil = faster
valare veegathil = very fast
more examples
aduthu = closely
neerathe =early
eppoolum = always (eppool = when )
chilappool = may be, sometimes
appool = then
ivide = here avide = there
( evide = where )
