Took a nostalgic train down to Napier.

 A memorable journey.

Not because of the art deco building that Napier is famous for, it’s the train journey that I find meaningful. Met a chatty uncle in one of the carriages, who shares his story with me. He appears to be in his mid fifties, wearing a black jacket and rugged jeans. No one would expect that someone who looks this bright and smiley is fighting stage 4 liver cancer. He told me he just had picc line removed last week after completed his chemotherapy.

Goal of his treatment is curative by the sound of it, despite he said later in the conversation that 5 year survival rate of his condition is around 30%

Since he had chemotherapy

He always have pin and needles in both of his hands

So whenever he tried typing something, it sent electric like sensation down both of his arms.

For a retired air force general, it can be frustrating to feel out of breath easily after walking just a few miles.

To be continued.
