restless leg syndrome
clinical diagnosis
uncontrollable urge to move the legs due to an uncomfortable or unpleasant feeling, which is worse at night and at rest, and temporarily relieved by movement.
diagnostic criteria
urge to move leg
symptoms worse at night
worsened with prolonged rest
relieved by movement.
The occurrence of the above features is not solely accounted for as symptoms primary to another medical or a behavioural condition (eg myalgia, venous stasis, leg oedema, arthritis, leg cramps, positional discomfort, habitual foot tapping)
