SLIDESHOW
by Los Angeles CoDA
We had a Slideshow Potluck. If you still want to see the slideshow, click slideshow. It's about votes that happened at the world CoDA business meeting (CSC) summer 2023 and a vote that's coming this summer 2024.
Some of the topics include: Using CoDA-endorsed Literature, the addition of a CoDA Teen program, new CoDA literature: Working Steps 4 & 5, Reparenting Our Inner Child, Revised Green Book, Updating the Fellowship Service Manual
No matter how long you’ve been in program, you have an equal voice and vote, at the local meeting level all the way up to the international level. Sharing your gut feelings and experience can help make CoDA a safer place. No pressure to do so if it’s not Higher-Power led or if it depletes you. But if it resonates, look for the SoCal CoDA survey sent out each summer where we can share our votes about decisions being made about CoDA or email your delegates.
To ask questions of your SoCal delegates, (the people who carry our L.A. votes to the World CoDA business meeting) write to: delegate1@socalcoda.org & delegate2@socalcoda.org

Hello!
I’m reaching out because the San Diego County Conference Committee is trying to coordinate a
few different in-person fellowship locations for the evening of Friday, June 2nd following the
opening night of the conference. The time would be from 7:00pm until the time that you
choose to end.
Would you be willing to host a fellowship in your area?
Hosting simply means that you’d be willing to pick a public location and show up to meet with
any other codependents who’d like to fellowship in person. Feel free to include the support of
your home group to spread the word to your local CoDA Community.
Here are some things to consider when planning your fellowship:
•A convenient location
•Has free and easy parking
•Can accommodate a large number of people
•Has an accessible restroom
Suggestions include, but not limited to:
•A park
•A beach
•A community center
•A restaurant
If this is something you would like to do, please feel free to reach out for assistance. We would
love to include your In-Person Fellowship with our CoDA Conference materials. Thank you for
helping us create a wonderful 2023 CoDA Conference experience.
In service,
Anita

Holiday
WORLD CoDAthon 2022
Marathon Meetings on the holidays
A "CoDAthon" is a non-stop series of meetings during the holidays. CoDA International has asked meetings across the globe that take place on the holidays if they are willing and able to have their meeting listed here for people looking for support on those days. Some meetings close on the holidays if people are out of town, but these online meetings will be open and welcoming to all codependents who desire healthy and loving relationships.
A message from CoDA International:
Dear CoDA Fellowship,
There will be marathon CoDA meetings on upcoming holidays. CoDA would like to express our gratitude to the meetings that are offering a safe space for the Co-Dependent who is suffering during the holidays.
Below, you will find a list for each of the 5 days of all special holiday meetings [Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day].
The list is also on the Codependents.org website and will be updated regularly there. Direct link: https://www.codependents.org/codathon.html <--- Check the link for updates
[A few local Los Angeles meetings have been added to the list below that may not be at the link.]
We also suggest checking the CoDA internet & phone meeting locator at
https://coda.org/find-a-meeting/online-meetings/ for additional resources.
We will likely be sending updates of additional meetings that join this project. To receive the updates, join the international CoDA mailing list here: https://codependents.org/coda_email_lists.htm
If your meeting is interested in being on this list, please email codathon@coda.org and virtualoffice@lacoda.org
For info on a specific meeting, please use the contact information posted at the end of each listing. You can reach the world service members working on this project at codathon@coda.org.

7:00 pm - 9:30 pm. Bring a blanket or whatever is comfy for you to sit on, something to eat if you want to eat, and warm layers because it gets cold! If you have battery-powered lights, please bring them as we'll be in the dark. But anything in nature, and in-person, sounds lovely to me, even if it's dark and cold! Looking forward to breathing in the night air with recovery folks. Feel free to share this info with meetings or other CoDA fellows. Below is a flyer image for those who want to share it via text. The red CoDA logo is where we'll be.

Translation will be available in Farsi, French, Hebrew, Italian, Mandarin, Russian, Spanish, Ukrainian, and Portuguese.
NOTE: This World Event will have 9 languages being interpreted in a consecutive style which means the presenter will speak then pause (meaning the English room will be silent) to give time for the Interpreters to convey their message in the Zoom interpretation channels. This speak and pause method will occur for the duration of their talks and the Q&A.
Chat will be turned off during the presentations. If there are technical problems, chat with the Events Committee for support. If you are using the Interpretation service, chat with your Interpreter who will either address your need or translate it for Events member.
The Q&A (question and answer period) will provide a question from each language to be asked on a first come first serve basis. There will be a round robin of one question per language. Submit your question to your Interpreter who will submit the translation to Events. English speaking attendees can give their question to Events directly. There will be further instructions in the morning to help connect to the Interpretation channels, and more.
Thank you for your understanding and patience in this new process as we widen our reach to the whole world!
Also, for safety, registration is a 2-Step process with Eventbrite and then with Zoom. Please expect a Zoom Invitation to REGISTER a SECOND TIME before the event. More info: https://codauk.org/january-2021-noddfa-retreat/
After our very successful 6th Mixed Retreat at the beginning of this year at Noddfa, we are happy to announce our 7th annual retreat again. Due to the current situation with the pandemic, unfortunately we cannot hold the retreat face-to-face at Noddfa in January 2021 but will be doing all we can to bring the spirit of Noddfa to the online retreat. --CoDA UK ...
TRADITIONS
This is a Codependents Anonymous UK Approved Mixed Retreat. The retreat will adhere to the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions of Codependents Anonymous. Codependents Anonymous is a spiritual program. 12 Step Meetings will be held throughout the weekend. No outside speakers are involved. Only CoDA approved literature is available.
LITERATURE
Readings at meetings throughout the weekend will be taken from the following literature: The CoDA big blue book, The Codependents Anonymous green workbook, In This Moment Daily Meditation book, Common Threads of Codependency booklet, Peeling the Onion booklet, The Twelve-piece Relationship Toolkit booklet. It may benefit attendees to have this literature available during the retreat.
SOCIAL SATURDAY
There will be a social gathering on Saturday – please share your talents with us! (though do be mindful of Tradition 6, i.e. no outside enterprises). All activities are optional.
NODDFA
The retreat will take place online this year, hopefully returning to the wonderful location of Noddfa house in October and the following January. Noddfa is a venue used by 12 Step and numerous other groups throughout the year. It is a lovely old house with views of the sea and the hills. The grounds are full of trees, colourful shrubs and flowers. There is also a walled vegetable garden, a labyrinth and many other hidden treasures. NODDFA is a Welsh word meaning ‘haven’ or ‘refuge’. A place of peace and welcome, a place where you can regain energy. It is not compulsory to attend all the meetings if you do not wish to.
DONATIONS
As the retreat will be held online this year there will be no charge for accommodation. 7th tradition donations and donations to support the work of Noddfa can be made during the retreat.
Any further CODA queries for the retreat please contact Pete on 07853865040 / petehcoda@outlook.com or Gillian on 07792236888 / gilliancoda@gmail.com.

YOUR VOICE MATTERS
Southern California (SoCal) delegates will deliver our majority vote as part of the international group conscience. SoCal CoDA is made up of Los Angeles, The Desert, The Valley, San Diego, Orange County, Santa Barbara, Mountain, Inland Empire, CoDA Hispana and surrounding area CoDA communities. To get the most accurate vote, we'd love to hear from you. Section added 8/18/20
Making business meeting motions and voting can be a practice that uses recovery tools, some of which may include:
equality
worthiness
being clear and direct
asking
clarity about our wants and needs
sharing feelings
having the "courage to change the things we can"
feeling safe being a dissenting voice
trust
motion = movement = action = can be a form of contrary action
finding connection with a loving Higher Power through the group conscience process

LGBTQA+ In Recovery, Arielle S, Los Angeles
June is Pride Month! See a panel of Queer Fellows sharing their experience, strength, and hope... via moderated questions.
The CoDA community is diverse, and it is important to have representation of that diversity. What is common is learning to love the self and exploring identity. Queer Fellows likely have extra experience, strength, and hope to offer in those areas.
10-11:30am WORKSHOP 2
My Subconscious Can't Take a Joke, Barbara L, Los Angeles
We will draw attention to what we think and say and see if we believe what we hear and say what we mean.
Our subconscious is always listening to our thoughts and words—and putting meaning to them. What we HEAR, if we hear it often enough, becomes our BELIEF. I will offer examples and opportunities to see what we think and say showing the meanings our subconscious hears. With awareness perhaps we can change some beliefs about ourselves.
[Lunchtime Assembly in Room 2]
2:30-4pm WORKSHOP 3
Tools to Maintain Balance In Your Life, Theresa B, Texas
Learn and share ways you maintain balance in various areas of your life. This is an interactive workshop.
We will use an assessment tool so participants can see where they are currently in regards to living the life they want. Facilitator will explain results and lead discussion on how to continue to use the tool to track progress. Facilitator will share tools and techniques she has learned to help her to develop balance in various areas of her life. Participants will be invited to share tools and techniques that work for them.
4:30-6:00pm WORKSHOP 4
Seeing my Higher Self Through Friendship, Thuy K/Darlene H, Los Angeles
A desire for healthy and loving relationships-Tradition 3... well, here it is! In our vulnerability, we took the leap into friendship. Bring your Peeling the Onion booklet (not required).
In the pursuit of healthy and loving relationships, we explore what this means as friends. We’ve discovered our Higher Selves and grown closer to our respective Higher Powers working the steps into our friendship. We share our unmanageability and new behaviors through examining our experience, strength, and hope in recovery.

8-9:30am WORKSHOP 5
Setting Healthy Priorities through Calendaring, Vanessa C, Los Angeles
Do you end the week having accomplished everyone's priorities but your own? This workshop will cover calendaring as a tool for finding serenity and sanity.
Do you ever find yourself up until 1am finishing something due the next day? Blind-sided by an appointment you forgot about? At the end of the week having accomplished everyone's priorities but your own? One codependent pattern is "having trouble setting healthy priorities and boundaries." I will share my experience, strength, and hope around scheduling my time – and specifically a tool for preparing for the week ahead. If you are interested in learning about how I have used calendaring to bring serenity into my life, please stop by this workshop.
10-11:30am WORKSHOP 6
Cultural Codependency: When Cultures Clash with Recovery, Isabella Y, Florida
In our increasingly global community, we may discover our newfound recovery can conflict with either our own native culture or adopted culture abroad, contributing to or amplifying codependent patterns with far-reaching impact. Bring your Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions-green workbook (not required).
As a first generation American of Italian parents who migrated later in life and a sponsor to internationals, I’ve observed this first-hand. My own recovery journey has helped me to identify, assess and overcome cultural expectations that were both in conflict with American society…and with the healthy and loving relationships I desire. This workshop seeks to help people identify, address and navigate the potential pitfalls of cultural codependency using CoDA steps and traditions.
12:30-1:30pm SPEAKER 3 Jeff L., Los Angeles, CA
