CoDA's 7th Tradition
A CoDA group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions.
HOW
During the pandemic, donations are accepted via check or online. To donate online, use the steps below. Checks can be made out to LA CoDA and mailed to LA CoDA, P.O. Box 90453 LA, CA 90009.
WHEN
After a home group's meeting expenses are paid and their prudent reserve is met, the group can donate to CoDA at the local, regional and world levels. A prudent reserve is usually 2-3 month’s expenses. CoDA suggests that meetings donate excess funds on a quarterly basis, regardless of the amount.
WHAT
LA CoDA’s disbursement guidelines are: 50% to LA CoDA, 20% to SoCal CoDA, and 30% to World CoDA. Mailing addresses are in the printable 7th Tradition Disbursement form.
AUTONOMY
Each group is autonomous and can use the group conscience process to determine how and when to allocate funds. The ideas here are only suggestions.
TRANSPARENCY
LA CoDA Treasury shares a record of all donations received so that anyone can see a history of their meetings’ contributions. The page also shares the LA CoDA budget.
