Week 2:
planning and production:
context-purpose-aims and objectives
-My aims for this week are to keep adding to my research blogs (artist and gene as well as adding more to my equipment blog, , and to finish up my first track. I am going to do this by just adding little bits to my website when I can and keep looking over it to make sure its relevant to my FMP. For finishing my song, I will use Logic on my Ipad (recent access) to add any final ideas to my song or any tweaks I might wanna make to make the song fuller.
research
context- purpose- aims and objectives- pre production
-My research for this week is to keep adding to my equipment blog mainly my microphone research. This is relevant to my project as one of my key aspects of my FMP is to look into different vocal microphones and see which ones are best for my vocal style, this helps expand my knowledge on equipment to be used in the future if anyone was to ask for recommendations or for my self if I ever want to pursue music. It also helps me on what microphone is best for what particular style of music as I've learnt that the Neumann TLM 103 is good for R&B style music.
I got all my microphone research done on this week as well as a mini evaluation on which mic is best, leaving me to move onto other equipment's i may use.
practical skills
incl. all practical tasks undertaken to progress the project- production- post production- add sc- video/ audio clips- voice recording- photos noyes
For my practocal skill, I want to try and get a start on ideas for my second track and also add vocals and finish up my first track by listening over see if i want to change or add anything Hopefully i can try and add vocals by the end of the week if not i shall do it the next week.
This week, I carried on making tweaks to my first original song by listening to it over and over to see if there was anything i would want to add or change. I did try some different things in the chorus for this week. Such as when to cut the main guitar part and if i should keep the drums going into the chorus or not. I kept the guitar part going into the chorus as i feel it kept that sense of strong emotion in the chorus the having it cut before the last line in the chorus to have that sense of raw emotion, having the pure feel of sadness come through. I did this at the end of the chorus having the main guitar part through most of the chorus. I also brought the drums in for a split second in the middle of the chorus creating a more roller coaster of feels.
April 29
evaluation and reflection
weekly reflections, evaluative reviews, videos/blog of process and outcomes
-For this week, I didn't get much done due to prevents from mental health problems, however, I did finish my first song including lyrics which was one of my main aims. I did add a little bit to my mic research but not enough for what I wanted to do, I feel i lacked alot this week and fell behind a lor leaving myself to do alot next week. I did get feedback on my first song about the chorus from Judith, she said to change to one ot two notes in my piano part to help signify when the chrous comes in, so we sat and did that in my pratcial lesson i have with her.
Next steps
priorities for next week
My main priorities for next week are to keep adding to my research blogs as I am falling behind a bit, and to get some key ideas down for my second song and get a starting point for it to work off of. I also need to remember to screenshot my process and upload it onto my website.
