The Texas Formative Assessment Resource (TFAR) is a free online platform that helps educators design, give, and share formative assessments. Formative assessment data is used to inform teaching decisions and improve instructional support. It runs assessments through Cambium - the same platform we use for STAAR and TELPAS testing. It allows students to practice on this assessment platform with their accommodations prior to the offical State Assessments.
We will be using TFAR to administer Interim Assessments #1 and #2 this SY.
Campuses/Teachers will be using TFAR as directed by C&I for other formative assessments throughout the SY.
TFAR will be used during Crescendo
The test administrator selects the tests to be administered and schedules a test session in the Test Administrator Site.
The test administrator provides the session ID to the students.
Students sign in to the Student Interface using their first name, TSDS ID, and session ID.
Students complete and submit their tests.
The Teacher role can create sessions for Interim assessments, and Texas Formative Assessment Resource (TFAR) assessments.
The following roles can create sessions for all programs: district testing coordinator, district testing assistant, campus testing coordinator, and online test administrator.
This section describes how test administrators successfully set up test sessions. For information about the testing process from a student’s perspective, refer to the following sections: How Students Sign In to the Student Interface and How Students Complete a Test.
