The Prayer for Dew

On the first day of פסח there is a (universal?) custom to pray for dew (as an inverse parallel to the Prayer for Rain said on שמיני עצרת).

This פיוט is a farewell, as it were, to the rainy season: לך לשלום גשם [JC]. This particularly catchy melody has also been set to אין כאלהינו [JC] sung, appropriately, on the first day of פסח.

The חצי קדיש immediately preceding the Prayer for Dew in the אשכנזי tradition has a unique melody that it shares only with the חצי קדיש immediately preceding the (parallel) Prayer for Rain (both being closely related to the חצי קדיש immediately preceding נעילה); indeed, they (including the חצי קדיש before נעילה) are all מסיני (meaning, not literally from סיני but rather simply of very ancient origin).
