The sixth student learning outcome is met through my community health assessment paper which discussed access barriers to mental health services among populations in a rural area. By analyzing a chosen community setting and its aggregate, I was able to assess a lot of the major issues and health disparities present and understand which barrier was the most prevalent. Additionally, I was able to gain better insight into the community’s needs with the ultimate goal of promoting healthy lives. This analysis demonstrates novice skills in care coordination and healthcare management in an area with a highly dense cultural setting by focusing on the chosen community. The paper also demonstrates leadership skills through the implementation of short-term and long-term goals needed to aid in the access barrier.
