Community Service Activity: 2023 - 2024

          On August 29th, 2023,  I was able to join the Longwood University Honors Student Association for a trash pickup community service project around campus and the town of Farmville. I, and a group of Longwood peers, volunteered for two hours to ensure that the Farmville community’s environment was beautiful, sanitary, and inhabitable for all. Afterward, we arranged the trash bags in classes of recyclables (plastic, paper, metal, etc.) and then took the trash to the local recycling center where it could be processed accordingly. The trash pickup was a great opportunity to connect with individuals of similar interests and pave the way for others to follow similar steps. Additionally, this project allowed me to embrace the importance of giving back to my community and protecting the world we live in.
