        ...faces shaped by a lifetime


Trees seem particularly good at growing faces.

Knots become eyes, scars turn into mouths, and folds in the bark suggest expressions that can appear thoughtful, surprised or impossibly old. Unlike the fleeting faces in clouds, these may remain for years, slowly changing as the tree continues to grow around them.

Some faces look as though they have been waiting a very long time to be noticed.
