Hello, I am Ana Isabel Pais

A photographer and visual artist based in Estoril, Portugal.

The passion for sculpture and photographing faces in nature stems from my love of art and surreal fantasy. As a nature lover, I am always open to sensory experiences and find inspiration in the everyday. I let my mind wander without knowing the destination, collecting images and little treasures along the way. As a student at the National Society of Fine Arts, I feel previleged to have learned and grown under the guidance of  sculptor Quintino Sebastião.
Ceramic sculpture - particularly inspired by natural "rock faces" (Suiseki) - has become my preferred creative vein for bringing the fertile soil of imagination to life, while also nurturing my artisan side. The result is a collection of unique fictional characters, whose adventures I enjoy telling through short stories.
The project If Rocks Could Talk began in 2022 and consists of sculptures, photography, stories and land art. The Estoril coastline serves as my primary inspiration and the place where I create most of my work.
