Letter for School Families

Sent to all school families by the District on Tuesday, February 12th.

February 11, 2019

Dear Corbett School Families,

The District, School Board and Community Group - Independent Citizens for Sustainable School Solutions (IC3S) invite and encourage you to attend one of the following presentations. Independent consultant, Rob Saxton, has completed his Scope of Work and is ready to deliver his report and recommendations for the Corbett School District and Community. Since September, Mr. Saxton has performed an independent review gathering information pertinent to district finances, programming and quality. The presentations will be a culmination of his work and mark the completion of his contract. The information presented will provide a platform to discuss what next steps to take as a School District and Community. In addition, it will advise how to continue this collaborative effort in order to best serve and support the needs of students, district staff, school facilities and community members at large.

The following 3 informational meetings will present the same content. Presentation dates and times were set in an effort to give people multiple options to attend. The presentations will be held on;

Monday, February 25th at 7pm in the Multi-Purpose Building. Rob Saxton will present his report in a Special School Board Meeting. This meeting is open to the public.

Tuesday, February 26th at 7pm at the Corbett Community Church, Rob Saxton will present his report to the community at large.

Friday, March 8th at 7pm at the Corbett Community Church, Rob Saxton will present his report to the community at large.

The full report will be made available to the public on the IC3S website on the evening of Monday, February 25th. A video recording of the February 26th meeting will also be made available on the IC3S website. https://sites.google.com/view/ic3s

Mr. Saxton made it clear in his request to the Board in January that the report and presentation be given at the same time to all parties involved. The School Board agreed to his request, and thus all parties (including District Administration, Staff, Board Members and IC3S) will see and hear the report information for the first time on Monday, February 25th at the Special Board Meeting. Mr. Saxton did let us know that the report is 50 pages in length. Due to printing costs, we will not be providing printed copies for audience members at this meeting. The report will be available for viewing online.

Mr. Saxton has taken great care and interest in this review process. His report and presentation will be focused on the efficiency, efficacy, economy of scale (sustainable sizing), and recommendations for district financial planning and programming. IC3S has served as the independent and voluntary Project Managers for this process and Scope of Work. The District has served as the Contract Managers, and the School Board has overseen the process and working relationships.

IC3S group members - Mikaila Way, Jeff Aho, Brad Garrett, Cless Woodward, Andrew Kurkinen along with Mr. Saxton greatly appreciate the School Board and Corbett District administration and staff for their collaboration. Additionally, we'd like to express our sincere thanks to the Corbett community members and school families for their participation thus far in meetings, surveys and input. We hope you will join us on Feb. 25th, 26th or March 8th to hear the results of Mr. Saxton's work. Please stay engaged with future conversation and collaboration regarding these critical decisions for our School District and Community.
