Marcus is a young human man just coming of age as the game begins. He is the son of the captain of the Arcadian City Guard, and a devote follower of the Goddess of Light, resulting in him being a very upstanding young man with a strong sense of justice and fair play. His intense desire to help people drives him to join the Adventurer’s Guild instead of the city guard.
Mechanically, Marcus is good for people newer to RPGs; he has a slightly higher Hit Rate than the other characters, leading to fewer misses, and gains a bonus to both his Defense and Magic Defense stats. This pairs well with his default class of Paladin, increasing its tankiness even more, but is also good for making the less defensively inclined classes more sustainable.
Having grown up on the streets, Kaze is not afraid to break the rules to take what he needs. Starting off as a mercenary, Kaze was willing to take on any job as long as the pay was good. But a life on the edges of society is not what he wants, leading him to participate in the Adventurer’s Guild exam to try and better his lot in life. Even if he doesn’t see much difference between his old occupation and new one. Kaze rarely smiles, is quick to anger, and suspects everyone is out for themselves; he certainly is.
Mechanically, Kaze has a bonus to his Critical Strike Chance, as well as higher Agility and Luck. This obviously enhances his default class of Assassin, but can also shore up the weaknesses of Paladin or lend some additional damage to Dancer.
Aria is a mysterious young woman from the Dark Elf tribe. She came to Arcadia with her twin sister Amara to partake in the Adventurer’s Guild exam, although her reason for doing so is unknown. She exudes serenity and calm, and any shifts to her emotions are so subtle most would miss them. She always seems to know more than she lets on, and is exceptionally skilled at detecting the flow of mana.
Mechanically, Aria has an increased Evasion chance, and higher Magic Attack and MP to go with her default class of Dancer. But even outside that, these can help buff the magic game of any of the other classes, especially Barbarian and Paladin, improving their magical damage and healing, and allowing them to use skills more often.
Amara is the boisterous and extroverted twin sister of Aria. She loves fighting and helping people, and the best way to do both is to become an adventurer! She is almost always cheerful, and seeks to spread her name far and wide. While she may seem a bit air headed, none can deny her pure heart and sheer strength.
Mechanically, Amara always has a chance to counter-attack enemy attacks, increasing her damage output, as well as increased Attack and Max HP. This pushes the damage of her default class, Barbarian, to incredible heights, but most classes can benefit from being able to take more hits and the extra damage output.
