As stated with my Sora's Transforming Mech, I love robots that can turn into other things. With Sora's mech, I did robot to vehicle, but for this one, I wanted to do robot to animal, like how Transformers did it with Beast Wars. I started with a Lego DREAMZzz set, snagging all the black and purple armor, as well as the fur pieces. Then I built a simple mech frame, complete with rotating waist to facilitate the transformation sequence and make it a bit more complex than just putting a humanoid on all fours.
For the claws, I didn't want the hands to just become feet; instead, I made the wolf claws a sort of gauntlet weapon, with a distinction between the fingers and the claws. That way, when transformed, the fingers would fold up into the hand, leaving the claws to fold out and take their place.
Like with my Sora's Mech, the main draw of this model is the two different forms, very distinct from each other. Having multiple forms like this really opens up a lot of possibilities for play. Each form offers their own distinct stories, on top of any additional ones created from the fact that both forms are the same model and can change between them at any time.
