The Golden Samurai. An ancient warrior wandering the countryside, defending those who cannot defend themselves. Just kidding! It's Monkey Kid again. With a fancy new golden form!
This set was inspired by and built off of one of MK's smaller mechs, although it's been so long, I can't remember which one. It features stud shooters, an arm cannon, a large sword, and the hat can even detach and become a shield! All the weapons can also be stored on the back for non-combat scenarios and play. Like a lot of mech designs, I imagine this being used like an action figure, with MK taking on this golden form as a sort of power up, rather than summing it as a pilotable robot.
When I was first building this, all I really had in mind was wanting a smaller scale golden mech. Armoring it up was fairly simple, but then I got to the helmet. After a few iterations, I dug up the smooth, gold arch pieces and had the idea to use them in a Sensei Wu style hat. On top of that, the interior dome that was required to fit the minifigure's head also provided a great place to attach a clip, allowing it to be held in the mech's hand as a shield or buzz-saw weapon!
