Bionicle. Probably my favorite Lego theme. Unfortunately, most of my pure Bionicle sets are either very old, and therefore not great, or in storage. So here is my little homage to that wonderful series.
This is actually a remake of a very old custom creation I made as a child. That original version was a total mess of colors and parts, so I decided to rebuild it not that long ago. I unified the color scheme and made several improvements and additions, such as posable arm blades and wings. I made sure to keep the golden Exo Force shin armor, the hinge joint knees, and the strange, multi-jointed elbows. Those were some of my first complex mechanisms, and I didn't want to just replace it with a ball joint.
Another section I am particularly proud of is the chest section, where a windshield piece was placed perpendicular to the rest of the set, covering up a gem, creating a hollow chest where you can actually see the character's core.
I don't want to keep reiterating the action figure analogy with all of my character and mech designs, but that is really the main way I see kids playing with these, giving them personas and putting them in a variety of situations with other characters and mechs to tell their own stories.
