1st Sunday in Lent - 9th March 2025

Opening Song

1. Led by the Spirit of our God,

we go to fast and pray

With Christ into the wil-der-ness;

we join His paschal way.

"Rend not your garments, rend your hearts.

Turn back your lives to me."

Thus says our kind and gracious God,

whose reign is liberty.

2. Led by the Spirit, we confront

temptation face to face,

And know full well we must re-ly

on God's redeeming grace.

On bread alone we can-not live,

but nourished by the Word.

We seek the will of God to do:

this is our drink and food.

3. Led by the Spirit, now draw near

the waters of re - birth

With hearts that long to worship God

in spirit and in truth.

"Who-e-ver drinks the drink I give

shall never thirst a - gain."

Thus says the Lord who died for us,

our Saviour, kin and friend.

4. Led by the Spirit,now sing praise

to God the Trin - i - ty:

The Source of Life, the liv-ing Word

made flesh to set us free,

The Spirit blowing where it will

to make us friends of God:

Jubilee Prayer:

Father in heaven,
may the faith you have given us
in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother,

and the flame of charity enkindled

in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
reawaken in us the blessed hope
for the coming of your kingdom.

R:/ To you our God, Eternally Blessed,
Be glory and Praise for ever.

May your grace transform us
into tireless cultivators

of the seeds of the Gospel.

May those seeds transform all of humanity

and the whole of creation in the sure

expectation of a new heaven
and a new earth,

when your glory, O Lord, will shine eternally.

Prayer of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,

I believe that You are present

in this Holy Sacrament of the altar.

I love You above all things

and I passionately desire to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally,
