Entrance Song

VERSE 1:

Summoned by the God who made us

rich in our diversity

Gathered in the name of Jesus,

richer still in unity.

REFRAIN

Let us bring the gifts that differ

and, in splendid, varied ways,

sing a new Church into being,

one in faith and love and praise.

VERSE 2:

Radiant risen from the water,

robed in holiness and light,

male and female in God’s image,

male and female, God’s delight.

VERSE 3:

Trust the goodness of creation;

trust the Spirit strong within.

Dare to dream the vision promised,

sprung from seed of what has been.

VERSE 4:

Bring the hopes of every nation;

bring the art of every race.

Weave a song of peace and justice;

let it sound through time and space.

VERSE 5:

Draw together at one table,

all the human family;

shape a circle ever wider

and a people ever free

Responsorial Psalm

Psalm 89

RESPONSE: (Cantor, then all)

R/ O Lord, you have been our refuge from one generation to the next.

You turn men back to dust

and say: ‘Go back, sons of men.’

To your eyes a thousand years

are like yesterday, come and gone,

no more than a watch in the night.

R/ O Lord, you have been our refuge from one generation to the next.

You sweep men away like a dream,

like the grass which springs up in the morning.

In the morning it springs up and flowers:

by evening it withers and fades.

R/ O Lord, you have been our refuge from one generation to the next.

Make us know the shortness of our life

that we may gain wisdom of heart.

Lord, relent! Is your anger for ever?

Show pity to your servants.

R/ O Lord, you have been our refuge from one generation to the next.

In the morning, fill us with your love;

we shall exult and rejoice all our days.

Let the favour of the Lord be upon us:

give success to the work of our hands.

R/ O Lord, you have been our refuge from one generation to the next.

Preparation of the Gifts

REFRAIN:

Take our bread, we ask you,

Take our hearts, we love you,

Take our lives, oh Father,

We are yours, we are yours.

VERSE 1:

Yours as we stand at the table you set,

Yours as we eat the bread our hearts can't forget.

We are the signs of your life with us yet;

We are yours, we are yours. (to refrain)

VERSE 2:

Your holy people stand washed in your blood,

Spirit-filled, yet hungry, we await your food.

We are poor, but we brought ourselves the best we could.

We are yours, we are yours. (to refrain)

Prayer of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,

I believe that You are present

in this Holy Sacrament of the altar.

I love You above all things

and I passionately desire
to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally,

come spiritually into my soul

so that I may unite myself wholly to You

now and forever. Amen.

Based on a prayer of St Alphonsus Liguorit

Communion Song

  1. Jesus, my Lord, my God, my all!

How can I love Thee as I ought?

And how revere this wondrous gift,

So far surpassing hope or thought?

Refrain:

Sweet Sacrament, we Thee adore!

Oh, make us love Thee more and more.

  1. Had I but Mary's sinless heart

With which to love Thee, dearest King,

Oh, with what ever fervent praise,

Thy goodness, Jesus, would I sing!

3. Ah, see within a creature's hand

The vast Creator deigns to be.

Reposing, infant-like, as though,

On Joseph's arms, on Mary's knee

4. Thy Body, Soul and Godhead, all!

O mystery of love divine!

I cannot compass all I have,

For all Thou hast and art is mine!

Refrain

5. Sound, sound his praises higher still,

and come, ye angels, to our aid;

‘tis God, ‘tis God, the very God

whose power both man and angels made.

Recessional Song

CHORUS:

Follow me, follow me,

leave your home and family,

leave your fishing nets and boats upon the shore.

Leave the seed that you have sown,

leave the crops that you’ve grown,

leave the people you have known and follow me.

1. The foxes have their holes

and the swallows have their nests,

but the Son of man has no place to lay down.

I do not offer comfort, I do not offer wealth,

but in me will all happiness be found.

2. If you would follow me,

you must leave old ways behind.

You must take my cross and follow on my path.

You may be far from loved ones,

you may be far from home

but my Father will welcome you at last.

3. Although I go away

you will never be alone,

for the Spirit will be there to comfort you.

Though all of you may scatter,

each follow his own path,

still the Spirit of love will lead you home.
