5th Sunday in OT Yr B

5th Sunday in OT Yr B   ~ 4th Feb 2024

Entrance Song

1. Lord of all hopefulness,

   Lord of all joy,

   Whose trust, ever child-like,

   No cares could destroy,

   Be there at our waking,

   And give us, we pray,

Your bliss in our hearts, Lord,

At the break of the day.

2. Lord of all eagerness,

   Lord of all faith,

Whose strong hands were skilled at

   the plane and the lathe,

   Be there at our labours,

   And give us, we pray,

Your strength in our hearts, Lord,

At the noon of the day.

3. Lord of all kindliness,

   Lord of all grace,

   Your hands swift to  wel-come,

   Your arms to embrace,

   Be there at our homing,

   And give us, we pray,

Your love in our hearts, Lord,

At the eve of the day.

4. Lord of all gen-tleness,

   Lord of all calm,

   Whose voice is contentment,

   Whose presence is balm,

   Be there at our sleeping,

   And give us, we pray,

Your peace in our hearts, Lord,

At the end of the day.

Responsorial Psalm

RESPONSE: (Cantor, then all)

Praise the Lord who heals the broken-hearted

Praise the Lord for he is good

sing to our god for he is loving

to him our praise is due

The Lord builds up Jersulalem

and brings back Israel's exiles

he heals the broken hearted

he binds up all their wounds

He fixes the number of the stars

He calls eaxh one by its name

Our Lord is great and almighty

his wisdom can never be measured

The lord raises the lowly

he humbles the wicked to the dust

Gospel Acclamation

  Alleluia, Alleluia, Alle - luia

I am the light of the world, says the Lord,

anyonenwho follows me

will have the light of life

Alleluia!

Mass of St. Bernadette

Offertory Song:

1. We cannot measure how you heal

or answer every sufferer’s prayer,

yet we believe your grace responds

where faith and doubt unite to care.

Your hands, though bloodied on the cross,

survive to hold and heal and warn,

to carry all through death to life

and cradle children yet unborn.

2. The pain that will not go away,

the guilt that clings

from things long past,

the fear of what the future holds,

are present as if meant to last.

But present too is love which tends

the hurt we never hope to find,

the private agonies inside,

the memories that haunt the mind.

3. So some have come who need your help

and some have come to make amends,

as hands which shaped and saved the world

are present in the touch of friends.

Lord, let your Spirit meet us here

to mend the body, mind and soul,

to disentangle peace from pain

and make your broken people whole.

Holy Holy:

Holy, Holy, Ho - ly, Lord, God of hosts

Heaven and earth are full of your glory

Hosanna in the highest, Hosanna in the Highest.

Blessed, blessed, blessed is He

who comes in the name of the Lord

Hosanna in the Highest, Hosanna in the Highest.

Prayer of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,

I believe that You are present

in this Holy Sacrament of the altar.

I love You above all things

and I passionately desire
to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally,

come spiritually into my soul

so that I may unite myself wholly to You

now and forever. Amen.

Based on a prayer of St Alphonsus Liguorit

Communion Song

Lord I come, I confess

Bowing here, I find my rest

Without You, I fall  apart

You're the one   that guides my heart

Lord, I need You, oh  I need You

Every hour I need You

My one  defence, my righteousness

Oh God, how I need  You

VERSE 2:

Where sin runs deep, Your grace is more

Where grace is found is where You are

And where You are, Lord I am   free

Holiness   is Christ in me

Lord, I need You, oh   I need You

Every hour I need You

My one  defence, my righteousness

Oh God, how I need  You

BRIDGE:

So teach my song to rise to You

When temptation comes my way

And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You

Jesus You're my hope and stay

Lord, I need You, oh I  need You

Every hour I need You

My one defence, my righteousness

Oh God, how I need  You

You are my one  defence, my righteousness

Oh God, how I need You

My one defence, my righteousness

Oh God, how I need You
