WHY ARE THERE RACIAL CATEGORIES INSTEAD OF INDIVIDUAL RACES?
Our aim here is to give players the freedom to create any character they envision, allowing them to have their own unique abilities and personal folklore traits. In this, there are no specific races in our lore, given there are so many different supernatural beings - each with various folktales even for the same race, we’ve grouped all creatures into Racial Categories that includes both magical and non-magical users. Take your time and read through the categories to figure out where your character belongs. If you’re a hybrid, choose the dominant side of your heritage as your racial category, as one side will always be stronger than the other.
WHAT SHOULD I CONSIDER WHEN CREATING MY CHARACTER FOR ROLEPLAY?
Before diving into roleplay, start by crafting a background story for your character. As you write, think about how your character would behave. Though this is a supernatural roleplay sim, embrace the realism that would exist in modern-day life if such beings were part of it. In addition to your racial category weaknesses, you’ll need to develop personal weaknesses as no one is flawless. Just like in real life, we all have individual vulnerabilities, examples would be a fear of heights, allergies, or even substance abuse. Each character has imperfections and these flaws will allow for deeper storytelling. Consider your character’s age, culture, folklore, birthplace, personality, physical appearance, education, career, relationships, hobbies, fears, strengths, weaknesses, goals, and moral beliefs. How did their childhood shape them? Why are they in Vermont? These are questions that you should ask yourself when creating a character. It is also important to separate yourself from your character, embrace losses as your character cannot win every fight or argument, and celebrate wins.
HOW MANY CHARACTERS CAN I HAVE ON ONE ACCOUNT?
We allow players to have up to 3 active characters per account at a time. Your roleplay HUD will have 3 character slots, allowing you to switch between them as needed, but you cannot have more than 3 active characters at once. You don't need to resubmit an application for a new character once your first is approved, as we trust our community to follow the same rules as before. If you want to bring in a new character and all 3 slots are taken, one of your current characters must become inactive in roleplay, meaning they must have gone away or been written out in some capacity. When they return, they will replace one of your 3 active characters.
HOW DO WEAKNESSES AFFECT ROLEPLAY AND COMBAT?
As you explore the race categories, keep in mind that balance is key. Each category has its own weaknesses to ensure fair and interactive roleplay. Although we are a dice based sim, these weaknesses help enhance storytelling. As an example, if a demon is kidnapped, brass bars could be used to keep them locked away, as it's a specific weakness for their category. In combat, however, the dice will determine the outcome.
