Howling Hills is a Second Life® Modern Fantasy Roleplay Community located in Vermont, shielded by the Veil to protect it from Corrupted magic and Aberrations spreading across the realms. While many residents live ordinary lives, the world outside the Veil is everchanging with Corruption left unchecked. In this world, players shape the story.

Howling Hills is a vast universe full of mysterious and rich history.

In the late 18th century, Henry Miller, Agatha Delvaux, Jonah Croft and Bellatrix Le’Pouf founded Howling Hills in the rolling hills of Vermont. Their vision was idyllic: a harmonious coexistence between Humans (The Favored) and Supernaturals. However, such visions come with a cost.
A malevolent force referred to as Corruption began to distort all magic, transforming both corrupted Humans and Supernaturals alike into grotesque monstrosities known as Aberrations. This Corruption threatened everything, everywhere, going so far as to seep into other dimensions and worlds.
In response, a once magic reliant world was forced to lean on Technology, and a mana-filtering shield known as the Veil was created. These were deployed to key cities globally over time, and in 1831, Howling Hills gained a Veil of its own. Some Corruption still seeps through Veils, turning corrupted citizens into new Aberrations if one pushes themselves too far.
In 2026, Howling Hills remains threatened by Corruption and by the World’s political climate. Despite this, the community of Howling Hills retains resilience and hope for a better future.
The research-focused organization Havoc continues to investigate and experiment, and The Order lurks, ever vigilant in their methods of keeping balance. Through it all, the organization DOOM preaches that the only true cure for the corrupt world, is to destroy everything in it. The future of Howling Hills, and perhaps even the global landscape, is in your hands.
