Heat by Heat Results - March 1968

The 1968 version of the Halifax Dukes started the season (as the previous year) with a tricky visit to Swindon.  Like 1967, a heavy defeat followed, although unlike the previous season. the scoreline did not reflect the racing, with the Dukes pushing the league champions after a slow start.  Halifax were indebted to Boocock and Boothroyd for 24 points to keep things respectable, and after Boocock was beaten by Briggs in heat 1, he was a class apart.  Boothroyd himself had 2 wins, including a rare home defeat for Briggs in heat 11.  Alan Jay had an unlucky debut, with a harsh tapes exclusion and a fall, but showed potential with a valuable win in heat 8, whilst Kentwell withdrew from the meeting after an awkward fall in heat 3.  Like the previous season, Boocock lost to Briggs in the Silver Sash match race after the meeting.
