Heat by Heat Results - October 1967

Halifax rounded off an ultimately frustrating defence of their league title with a crushing win over Newport - the second time they had topped the 60 point mark in recent weeks.  Eric Boocock predictably went through the card, with Younghusband and Bert Kingston also being unbeaten by an opponent - in Kingston's case, his first paid maximum for the club!  No Duke finished at the back all night, as a handful of 4-2 reverses was as good as the Wasps could manage.  The win pushed Halifax up to a final, respectable 7th in the league table.

The Dukes planned final fixture of 1967 (meeting 29) was scheduled for 14/10/67 as a challenge match versus a League Select side, but the rain intervened and the fixture was cancelled and never re-arranged.

The final action of 1967 for the Dukes was Eric Boocock's representation in the season-ending BLRC at Belle Vue on 21/10/67.  Boocock capped a magnificent season by scoring 10 points (3,3,2,2,0) to finish 4th behind winner Barry Briggs, runner up brother Nigel and third place Ray Wilson.
