A letter of Protest
Your Excellency,
The local student community does hereby lodge this formal letter of protest regarding the unilateral declaration of independence by Turkey’s illegally occupied territory of Cyprus.
We strongly denounce and condemn the legally invalid puppet regime and call on Turkey to abide by the resolutions of the UN security council and international law. We demand the withdrawal of the Turkish army and all the Turkish colonists who have been illegally transferred in the occupied territory. We call time on this illegitimate and universally unrecognised self-proclaimed pseudo-state entirely dependent and subordinate by Turkey.
We demand real pressure to be applied on Turkey to work with sincerity towards a just and comprehensive settlement for the benefits of the whole island. In no way is the existence of such situation conducive to a solution and reunification of the island in the interest of all Cypriots. On the contrary, it bears testament to Turkey’s destructive and divisive stance towards Cyprus.
It is high time the UN held Turkey to account by demanding a just and viable resolution in Cyprus. This abhorrent situation cannot be allowed to continue forever.
Sincerely,
