We need to remember that while God often heals, He doesn't have to give us a healing miracle.
For example, Jesus did not heal everyone. When Jesus went to the pool of Bethesda, He found one man and healed him, but He skipped over everyone else:
“Now there is in Jerusalem by the sheep gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew Bethesda, having five porticoes. In these lay a multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, and withered… A man was there who had been ill for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had already been a long time in that condition, He said to him, ‘Do you wish to get well?’ … Jesus said to him, ‘Get up, pick up your pallet and walk.’ Immediately the man became well, and picked up his pallet and began to walk. …
Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, ‘Behold, you have become well; do not sin anymore, so that nothing worse happens to you.’ ” (John 5: 2-3, 5-6, 8-9, 14)
Why did Jesus skip over everyone else who were sick, blind, lame, and withered?
It was not Jesus’ mission to abolish sickness or death. It is true Jesus healed many who came to Him, but He did not go out to look for every sick person in order to heal him. Jesus’ primary concern was that people would repent of their sins and follow God. That was His message to the man He healed: “Do not sin anymore” (John 5:14).
If Jesus' mission was to heal everyone, then there would be no sickness or death anymore.
But Jesus' mission was to provide salvation to everyone so that they would have eternal life.
There are churches that teach everyone will be healed if they believe.
But this is simply not true. Everyone will die one day and this last sickness would not be healed but ends in physical death.
Even apostle Paul was sick (Galatians 4:13-14), and Timothy had stomach pains (1 Timothy 5:23).

We often want healing very much, especially when we are sick or when our loved one is sick.
Sometimes we are healed by God when we ask and trust Him. But sometimes God wants us to trust Him through a difficult journey.
God's thoughts are higher than our thoughts.
And He brings us closer to Him through our difficulties.
---
Actually, it is not what God wants/expects us to do before He gives us a miraculous healing.
The question should be: What does God want/expect us to do during everyday life?
The answer is: "Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." (Matthew 6:33)
Seeking His kingdom and righteousness means to believe in Jesus and follow His commandments.
As a Christian, following Jesus' commandments should be a daily practice.
His commandments can be summed up in this:
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength... Love your neighbor as yourself." (Mark 12:30-31)
As you obey Jesus, whatever trouble you may face, you will find help in your time of need (Hebrews 4:15-16).
