The wedding Jesus attended was more of a celebration than a ceremony. Jewish weddings are very celebratory and can last for several days.
Traditionally in ancient times, the bridegroom would propose to the girl, and if she said yes, he would go prepare a place for her.
The bridegroom would go build their wedding chamber, but he would not know when it would be finished, because the wedding chamber would need to be approved by the bridegroom's father. If it were up to the bridegroom, he might throw up a shack and go get the girl.
But it is up to the father to approve of the chamber and then the bridegroom would get the girl and they would be married.
So the bride would be waiting for the groom, because he could come to her at any time.
In the book of Song of Solomon, Solomon went to get his bride in the middle of the night, with men by his side (Song of Solomon 3:7-11).

The wedding Jesus went to was a great party. Many guests were invited and there was food and drinks. In particular, there was wine.
The bridegroom (as host) would need to provide as much wine as the guests would drink. You can see how embarrassing it would be if they ran out of wine.
But this happened to the wedding party Jesus attended.
"When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to Him, 'They have no wine.'" (John 2:3)
If the wedding Jesus attended was a mere ceremony, the wine would be meted out sparingly and the guests would not drink much. But because it was a party, the guests drank more freely. And they ran out of wine.
So Jesus performed his first miracle at the wedding by turning water into wine.
"When the headwaiter tasted the water which had become wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the headwaiter called the bridegroom, and said to him, 'Every man serves the good wine first, and when the people have drunk freely, then he serves the poorer wine; but you have kept the good wine until now.' This beginning of His signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in Him." (John 2:9-11)

Jesus is our Bridegroom.
"For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church." (Ephesians 5:31-32)
So the church is the bride and Jesus is the Bridegroom.
And Jesus promised us: "In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also." (John 14:2-3)
So let us be looking forward to Jesus' coming, to whom we will be wed. And let us be diligent to be like the wise virgins who were ready.
"Then the kingdom of heaven will be comparable to ten virgins, who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were prudent. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the prudent took oil in flasks along with their lamps. Now while the bridegroom was delaying, they all got drowsy and began to sleep. But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. The foolish said to the prudent, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the prudent answered, ‘No, there will not be enough for us and you too; go instead to the dealers and buy some for yourselves.’ And while they were going away to make the purchase, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast; and the door was shut. Later the other virgins also came, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open up for us.’ But he answered, ‘Truly I say to you, I do not know you.’ Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour." (Matthew 25:1-13)
How can we be ready to meet our Bridegroom?
Jesus said: "Be on guard, so that your hearts will not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that day will not come on you suddenly like a trap; for it will come upon all those who dwell on the face of all the earth. But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man." (Luke 21:34-36)
So we should be obeying God (not be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness), looking forward to His coming (so that it is not a trap for us), and keeping alert at all times (focused on the kingdom of God and not weighed down with the worries of life).
May God bless you!
