Energy from the sun comes in a broad spectrum. It includes radio waves, infrared, microwaves, visible light, ultraviolet, x-rays, and gamma rays. The last two mostly don't escape the sun's surface and are the results of nuclear fusion in the sun's core.
UV radiation does reach the earth. To our mortal bodies, this can be damaging if exposed for a long time. But before the Fall of mankind, this would not have hurt humans.
We can think of it this way. God made some things to be very intense. For example, the sun and stars and fire produce intense heat. Snow and ice are extremely cold. Are these bad in themselves because they are intense or extreme?
Not really. On the contrary, it is our bodies that are weak because of the Fall. Our eyes cannot look at the sun for long without damage. Our bodies cannot withstand cold for long without freezing.
It is true that our bodies don't have the capabilities to withstand intense cold, heat, or radiation. But it is not that the cold, heat, or radiation in themselves are bad. They are just doing what they are meant to do. For example, x-rays and gamma rays are meant to be penetrating and high energy, useful in nuclear fusion.
Fire is good for cooking and keeping warm, and it is meant to burn things in its path. Snow and ice are supposed to be cold. And wouldn't you want ice cubes in your drink from time to time?
But since our bodies are weakened after the Fall, we cannot handle too much of anything.
However, even UV radiation in moderation is necessary for life on earth. For example, UVB radiation in moderation is needed for humans, animals and some plants to produce vitamin D, which is needed for bone health, the immune system, and overall metabolism.
Some pollinators like bees see UV patterns on flowers, and this aids them in pollination.
Because too much UV would damage the delicate organisms on earth, God has provided an ozone layer to help protect us. God has also provided earth's magnetic field to protect us from cosmic radiation.
The Bible tells us that all of creation has been weakened because of the Fall of mankind:
"For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now." (Romans 8:20-22)
Being damaged by radiation is a result of slavery to corruption -- that is, all of creation is corruptible and susceptible to damage.
The Bibles says: "flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable" (1 Corinthians 15:50).
"For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality." (1 Corinthians 15:53)
Through faith in Christ, in the future, we will put on immortality. And nothing will be able to damage us.
So it is not the intensity of light or radiation that are bad in themselves. God is a great Creator who creates some intense and extreme stuff. But it is true that we need to put on immortality to not be damaged by the strength of light or radiation. And this is made possible through Christ who saves us and gives us eternal life.
