As the cue starts and we see Princess Mononoke standing on top of a building, the Princess Mononoke Theme plays in full glory, with a modified oboe as the lead. Ashitaka decides that he has to talk to Mononoke, and the beginning notes of the Ashitaka Theme can be heard in violin and flute. As we see the reaction of Lady Eboshi, the Lady Eboshi Theme can be heard in cello and clarinet. The camera slowly pans to Mononoke and only the modified oboe, playing the Princess Mononoke Theme, can be heard, only for the full orchestra to come in as she runs down the building. Ebohsi reacts very passive to this situation, and the Lady Eboshi Theme is being played quietly with clarinets and horns. With the playing of the Ashitaka Theme, Ashitaka looks at Mononoke and doesn't know what he should do, only for trying to rip out a piece of wood from the roof, with the Demon Theme in the background, as Ashitaka is using his demonic powers. Mononoke lands on the ground and a weak statement of the Princess Mononoke Theme can be heard. Ebohsi's gurads shoot at her and the beginning of the Irontown Theme can be heard in a very dramatic way.
Ashitaka wants to throw the piece of wood to the ground to silence the others, as the beginning notes of the Ashitaka Theme play in a very chaotic way. The last segment of the Ashitaka Theme plays as he runs down to Mononoke, with a usage of the whole tone scale in the harp. This scale is commonly used for the forest and its inhabitants. Onomatopoeia is being used as Mononoke opens up her eyes very rapidly and a little accented percussion hit plays. Mononoke attacks Ashitaka and the Princess Mononoke Theme can be heard in a full statement. An aleatoric swirl plays as she jumps in the air and onomatopoeic timpani hits play as Mononoke jumps twice on Gonza's head. Lady Eboshi and Princess Mononoke start fighting and the Lady Eboshi Theme and the Princess Mononoke Theme play simultaneously, Eboshi in bassoons, trumpets and the glockenspiel, Mononoke in modified oboes, horns and bass trombones.
Now, we cut to Ashitaka, who stands up and goes towards the action. During this sequence, the opening notes of the Demon Theme play in low strings, with the opening notes of the Ashitaka Theme in the flute. We can see the demon affecting Ashitaka's arm as he walks and the Ashitaka Theme and the Demon Theme play simultaneously. Shortly before Ashitaka intervenes the fight, a solo harp plays the first notes of the Ashitaka Theme. Ashitaka stops the fighting and we hear the full orchestra playing individual sections of the Ashitaka Theme, the Princess Mononoke Theme and the Lady Eboshi Theme. First violins, horns and the vibraphone mark out hints of the Ashitaka Theme, oboes, bassoons and trumpets mark out hints of the Princess Mononoke Theme and clarinets, bassoons and solo harp mark out hints of the Lady Eboshi Theme. A rich, thematic mixture in one musical line as all three fractions come together. The demon in Ashitaka's right arm shows itself and the Demon Theme bursts out with the full orchestra. Lady Eboshi now wants to cut off Ashitaka's right arm and the Lady Eboshi Theme plays in a very menacing fashion, until Ashitaka suddenly knocks both women out. There are three percussive hits used as onomatopoeia for the knock outs of the two women, ending the cue.
