As a result of my participation in, and leadership of, study tours to New Testament biblical sites, somewhere along the way I decided it would be a good idea to try to visit every named location associated with the Apostle Paul. It depends on how you count them, but by my reckoning there are about 54 such identifiable locations.
I have chosen not to count regions (eg Pamphylia), or whole islands (eg Crete, Cyprus), when there are specifically named sites located within those regions or on those islands. I do count named islands or places which Paul may have only sailed past, without landing. I have not counted Spain (Romans 15:24 ) but I may be tempted to add it if I learn of sufficiently attested 'traditional sites'. Arabia (Galatians 1:17) on the other hand is credibly identified with the Nabatean Kingdom so its capital, Petra, does now appear in my list.
The 53 locations I have identified are listed alphabetically below. (Some appear twice due to naming variations.) Those in the smaller font are locations I have not yet visited. Each page lists biblical references to the location; gives a brief account of my visit (if I have been there); map coordinates for the site, including for specific features of note; and a few selected photographs.
Where applicable, I have also provided links back to the accounts of my visits, either as part of study tours or of my own personal journeys. These pages are not yet complete and remain a work in progress.
So far I have visited 46 of the 53 separate locations listed below. Follow the links if you want to see where I have been and what is still on my wish list. If there is no link, the page is yet to be created.
I would be happy to receive any feedback, or suggestions for addition or alteration, using the 'contact me' link at the bottom of any page.
