There are multiple references to Sidon throughout scripture but it is mentioned only once in connection with Paul's journeys. Sidon was the first port of call on Paul's journey to Rome, after departing from Caesarea Maratima.
The ancient harbour of Sidon is located at the modern port city of Saida, in Lebanon. I have not been able to visit Sidon and have not yet made any thorough research in anticipation of visiting.
Speaking of both Sidon and Tyre, Nick Marriner and Christophe Morhange, in a 2005 paper entitled, Under the city centre, the ancient harbour. Tyre and Sidon: heritages to preserve, state that "New geoarchaeological research reveals that the early ports actually lie beneath the modern urban centres." See here.
