Language assessment in EMI is valued for both learning and policy awareness. This presentation reports on our digital EMI project, specifically the language functions analysis in 24 online EMI classes in Malaysia and Japan. Findings showed how language functions were combined across modes for communicative purposes. Prototypes of low-stakes readiness tasks were developed to support teachers and practical assessment design.
