Games Development
Final Project
Students will integrate their art asset to their game development and produce a fully functional and playable game.
I spent a lot of time figuring out how Unity works. Big thanks to tutorial videos from Mr. Razif and also from Youtube channels which really helps a lot. I also took some reference from C# scripts on GitHub etc. Some of them have include most of the elements I wanted to include in my game, but sadly I couldn't just copy paste them as it doesn't work that way. So most of the time I still had to figure them out on my own.
Fortunately I received tons of help from some of my friends and seniors, my family didn't do nothing but support me through those frustrated and stressed out times.
The prototyping stage was really difficult, until I found out that I really ain't going to become a game designer in the future. It requires far more time and effort than I thought, as I still remember during the first few weeks we were so happy to start learning unity's simple physics, but it turns out that the last few weeks of the semester is a complete disaster for me. Developing a playable game IS FREAKING DIFFICULT.
Nevertheless, I had to exert myself to finish this.
I use tilesets I got online to paint out the platforms for every level, then added floating platforms as assets, then added in the collectibles, traps and enemies.

After loads of test runs on my own, I tried deploying the game to Netlify, and got my friends to test it out. As I myself is actually an idiot in computer games, so the game I developed seemed to be easy. I got two different types of feedback, where one was from a group of friends who are gaming idiots like me, telling me that the traps and ghosts freaked them out, another is from gaming pros, telling me that it was quite a piece of cake, and the collectable HPs are far too much for such a small map. So I decided to remain what I'm already having since I can't satisfy both parties 🙂.
