Bible translation is accelerating like never before! God is raising up local churches to take the lead in projects for their communities, countries, and even entire regions.
Here are some comparisons of progress in Bible translation since we started ministry with Wycliffe in 2010:
# of people groups with translations in progress has grown from 1,900 to 4,300+
# of completed New Testaments published has grown from 700 to 1,704
# of people groups needing Bible translation to start has gone from 2,400 down to 686!
Many groups have an oral language and never had anything written, no less an alphabet to write it with! How do we help them translate the Bible?! After the translators develop an orthography and dictionary, Loren partners with them to develop literacy and linguistics training.

JAARS has had a close relationship with Billy Graham and his family for many years. Last year, Franklin Graham—president of Samaritan’s Purse—told JAARS’ president, Steve Russell, they were retiring a Cessna Caravan aircraft from service in Africa and wondered if we could use it. We had been praying for years to purchase this aircraft for translation work in Papua, Indonesia. God blows us away how He answers prayers far beyond what we imagine!
