Why Bible Translation

There are over 7,000 languages in the world and 2,163 do not have a single word of Scripture. Some people have parts of the Bible, but not in their mother tongue so they could understand John 3:16 and: Why God did what He did. Who He did it for. What perish means. How to have eternal life.

God's Call

We discovered JAARS in 2009 and God gave us a vision to support Bible translation with our skills in nursing and technology.

Understanding Romans 10:8 means knowing salvation comes through faith in Chirst. When God led us to Wycliffe, we realized we had skills that could help people have the Bible in their mother tongue. Helping them to gain understanding of God's character, grow in a relationship with Him, and proclaim Him to Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria!

Wycliffe Partners

Loren and Michelle are Wycliffe USA members assigned to SIL and JAARS.

JAARS started in 1948 in Yarina Cocha, Peru as Jungle Aviation and Radio Services.  70 years later, we have expanded to provide support for land, water, and air transportation, software development, technology support, and media services. We partner with JESUS Film doing video work, and Faith Comes by Hearing to produce audio Bible.

SIL is a Wycliffe partner organization that specializes in linguistics. SIL started as Summer Institute of Linguistics and it had its first session in 1934 when college students of linguistics gathered to learn about indigenous languages and the process of Bible Translation. Now, they are the primary Wycliffe organization for linguistics, software development, and technology used for Bible Translation

Global Technology and Information Services

Loren is assigned to SIL GTIS providing training, consultation, and support in technology for Wycliffe members in over 170 countries. He specializes in collaboration tools and knowledge management which helps teams work more efficiently in their role in Bible translation.

Tech for God's Glory

Technology speeds the process and delivery of Bible translation. Think about the growth of mobile communication since 2007 when the iPhone arrived. Now there are over 3.3 billion smartphones with active plans (not including inactive) around the world. Wycliffe is finding countless opportunities to share Scripture in videos, music, radio programs.

Wycliffe helps language communities create websites for Scripture resources. We have developed site building tools that require no technical expertise and they support right-to-left orientation as well as non-Roman scripts.

Progress bringing Peace

Kenya has 53 language groups that need Bible translation. April 2019, Giryama celebrated finishing the complete Bible now available to 752,000 speakers. My colleague  Abednego Omonge, IT manager of SIL Nairobi, was there to see the vice president of Kenya celebrating this historic event. His support comes in part from gratitude of how God's Word unifies his country struggling with tribal division.

Vision

Like the vision God gave Paul in Revelation 7, we also long to see every race, tribe, nation, and language confess the Lord as their savior. Thank you for your prayers and support for our ministry. God bless you

PRAISE GOD!

2019 we celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary! Matthew is 20 and getting an IT degree. Zack is 19 and going to welding school.

Michelle and Loren met at and graduated from NC State University. Michelle got a second degree in nursing at UNC Charlotte and was a nurse with Novant Health for 15 years. Loren started his career in Germany (he loves learning languages) then moved to Charlotte and worked in tech support for 15 years.
