Clases de español 🤓

Para las clases de español es siempre importante poder recordar lo que aprendimos la clase anterior y lo que hemos aprendido en la clase de hoy. Para comenzar la clase, le pido a mis estudiantes que escriban la fecha y sus nombres, para luego poder responder la primera frase "de la clase anterior, yo recuerdo...". Después, podemos continuar con la clase del día. Para finalizar la clase, les pido responder la siguiente frase "en la clase de español de hoy, yo he aprendido...".  Esto favorece mucho la memoria de largo plazo,  y obtener un resumen de lo aprendido. Además, la escritura nos permite ser creativos y procesar la información de una manera clara y concisa de modo que nos favorezca para el repaso. Espero que este recurso te sirva en tu aprendizaje del idioma y recuerda que lo que está escrito perdura.

For Spanish classes, it is important to be able to remember what we learned the last class and what we have learned in the class today. To start the class, I ask my students to write the date and their names, and then they can answer the first phrase " from the last class, I remember...". After that, we can move forward with class today. To end the class,  I ask them to answer the following phrase "In the Spanish class today, I have learned...". This can help our long term memory a lot and get an overview of what it was learned. Besides, writing allows us being creative and processing the information clearer and more concise in order to help us for  a review. I hope this resource can help you in your language learning and remember what it is written, it endures. 

Este documento es para estudiantes que aprenden el alfabeto español que quieran practicar con  un simple y divertido juego llamado " Torneo de deletreo". En este juego, tienes que escuchar a tu profesor deletrear algunas palabras, y luego tienes que adivinar que país es la palabra.  En este caso, puedes deletrear tantas palabras como quieras. El número de palabras depende de cuánto tiempo tienes para tu clase. Si quieres practicar algunos nombres de países, puedes ver el video abajo que hice recientemente. 

This document is for students learning the Spanish alphabet who want to practice with a simple fun game called "Spelling Tournament". In this game, you have to listen to your teacher spelling some words and then, you have to guess what country the word is. In this case, you can spell as many words as you want. The number of words depends on how much time you have for your class.  If you want to practice some countries` names, you can watch the video down below that I made recently.   

Este documento es para utilizar frases útiles en español durante las clases y poder practicar el español lo más que se pueda. Son instrucciones y preguntas básicas del profesor y del estudiante que se utilizan en clase normalmente, como es "puedo ir al baño un momento, por favor". La idea es poder desarrollar la clase en el idioma meta y que nos acostumbremos al idioma lo antes posible. Cabe mencionar, que este recurso fue obtenido de Duolingo for Schools el cual fue editado y traducido al español por su humilde servidor. Por último, en mi experiencia he visto un cambio enorme en mis estudiantes cuando aprenden estas frases, por lo que les recomiendo un 100% que las instruyan y las aprendan en sus clases. Espero que este recurso les sirva a todos. 

This  document  was done to use useful phrases in Spanish in the lessons and practice Spanish as much as is possible. They are basic instructions and questions from teachers and students that are used normally in class, for example "may I go to the bathroom/restroom, please". The idea is to be able to continue the class in the target langauge and we can get used to the language as soon as possible. Also, this resource was made by Duolingo for Schools that was edited and translated into Spanish by your humble servant. Lastly, in my experience I have seen such a good difference in my students after teaching this phrases, so I recommend 100% that you teach and learn them in your lessons. I hope that this resource help you all a lot.

Este documento fue hecho para aprender sobre el mes de la herencia hispana, evento que comienza el 15 de setiembre hasta el 15 de octubre de cada año. También, en algunos países latinoamericanos se celebra el día de la independencia en estos días. Por lo tanto, como una actividad excelente en clase, pueden aprenden los nombres de artistas famosos, países y bailes latinoamericanos tales como Shakira, Isabel Allende, Pablo Neruda, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, la salsa y el merengue, entre otros. 

This  document  was done to learn about the Hispanic Heritage Month, even that starts on September 15th to October 15th every year. Also, in some Latin American countries is celebrated the independence day in these days. So, as a excellent activity in class, you can learn the names of famous people, countries and dances from Latin America like Shakira, Isabel Allende, Pablo Neruda, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, la salsa, merengue, and so on. 

Este documento es para poder conversar en español con preguntas básicas en el presente simple donde pueden conocerse mejor el estudiante y profesor, por lo que se desarrollan habilidades sociales y lingüísticas. Honestamente, les recomiendo esta actividad para poder desarrollar la escucha y el habla en español. Además, les comparto la dinámica que hago con mis estudiantes. 

Actividad en clase: 

1. Yo comienzo hacer la primera pregunta, luego sigue el estudiante.

2. El estudiante escribe mis respuestas en su papel y yo escribo las respuestas de mi estudiante en mi papel.

3. Finalmente, hacemos un recuento de lo que aprendimos uno del otro, puedes hacer la pregunta: ¿qué aprendiste sobre mí? y de manera corta, puedes describir a la otra persona.   

This document was done to be able to have a conversation in Spanish with simple questions in the simple present where the student and the teacher can know each other better, so social and linguistic skills are developed. Honestly, I recommend this activity to improve listening and speaking in Spanish. Besides, I share my activity with students. 

Activity in class: 

1. I start making the first question, and then the student continues.

2. The student writes my answers on the sheet and I write my student`s answers on my sheet.

3. Finally, we make a review about what we have learned about each other, you can ask the question: what did you learn about me? and shortly, you can describe the other person. 

Haz un cuento en español

Estos recursos son excelentes para esta actividad en clase tanto para jóvenes como para adultos. Entonces, tenemos que hacer un cuento muy corto y sencillo. 

¿Cómo lo hacemos? 

Primero, aprendemos los elementos del cuento tales como los personajes, el escenario y la trama, entre otros. Después, aprendemos algunos conectores en español que sirven para conectar oraciones e ideas en un párrafo. Además, observamos varias imágenes geniales elaborados por el excelente equipo de Duolingo for Schools y también, ocupamos de mucha creatividad y diversión para hacer un cuento único y especial para el estudiante. Indudablemente, ocupamos una diapositiva, documento de Google, pizarrón u hoja de papel para escribir el cuento. Para terminar, tanto el profesor como el estudiante leen el cuento en voz alta.

Make a short story in Spanish

These resources are excellent for this activity for both young and adult people. So, we have to make a simple little short story. 

How do we do that?

First, we learn the elements of a short story such as characters, setting, plot, and so on. After that, we learn some connectors or linking words in Spanish that work for joining sentences and ideas in a paragraph. Besides, we see some great images made by the excellent team from Duolingo for Schools and also, we need a lot of creativity and fun to make a special and unique short story for the student.  Undoubtedly, we need a Google template or document, a whiteboard, or a piece of paper to write the short story. Finally, both the teacher and the student read the short story out loud.

Crea tu diálogo en español

Estos recursos son excelentes para esta actividad en clase tanto para jóvenes como para adultos. Entonces, tenemos que hacer un pequeño y sencillo diálogo. Primero, vamos a explicar las partes del diálogo. Luego, vamos a elegir una imagen y además, vamos a utilizar la diapositiva de Google para escribir el diálogo. Finalmente, el profesor y el estudiante hacen un juego de roles y practican juntos el diálogo.

Create a dialogue in Spanish

These resources are excellent for this activity in class for both young and adult people. So, we have to make a simple short dialogue. First, we are going to explain the parts of the dialogue. Then, we are going to choose an image and use a Google template to write a dialogue. Finally, the teacher and the student play a role and practice together the dialogue.

Claves para el éxito en el aula. 💯

Las claves para que los estudiantes puedan aprender, refuercen sus conocimientos y estén conectados con la clase son las siguientes: 

a. Tomar nota: Esto mejora la memoria a largo plazo, permite procesar la información y plantearla de manera más clara para el estudiante.

b. Reírse: Esto permite que la clase no solo sea conocimiento, sino conexión humana entre estudiantes y maestros. 

c. Trabajar en equipo: Poder hacer amigos y lograr juntos una meta en común, nos vuelve más eficientes, sociables y estar entretenidos.

d. Movimiento: Permite que el oxígeno llegue a tu cabeza y que puedas pensar mejor, te saca de tu mundo interior y empiezas a ver hacia fuera, a pensar positivo, creer en ti mismo y ser más creativo.

The keys for students can learn, consolidate the knowledge, and connect with the lesson are as follows:

a. Take notes: This improves long-term memory and allows to process the information and write it cleverly.

b. Get laugh: This allows the class to be not only knowledge, but also human connection among students and teachers. 

c. Teamwork: To be able to make friends and achieve a goal together makes us more efficient, friendly, and entertained. 

d. Movement: It allows oxygen to get to the head and you can think better, take out of your inner world and start to look outside, think positively, believe in yourself, and be more creative.

Claves para el éxito en clases de idiomas. 🤩

Podemos incluir otras claves para que los estudiantes puedan aprender y desarrollar sus habilidades en los idiomas durante las clases, tales como:

a. Entretenimiento, interés y placer: El estudiante tiene que ser el centro de la clase, por lo que hay que darles la oportunidad de que lean y escuchen temas que se sientan conectados.  

b. Fácil de enseñar y aprender: Los temas teóricos tienen que ser cortos y fáciles, se tiene que incluir tiempo para hacer práctica y juegos.   

c. Contar historias y cuentos: Los cuentos son sencillos, fáciles y entretenidos, tanto leerlos, escucharlos como crearlos en clase son un éxito para aprender idiomas.  

d. Tratar de no corregir errores: Este consejo es claro en que cada persona está en su proceso de aprendizaje, por lo que no hay que interrumpirlos. Si el estudiante pregunta, se le ayuda, pero cuando no pregunta es mejor darle su espacio. Saber cuando ayudar es clave para el aprendizaje de idiomas. 

e. Tener una excelente biblioteca: La lectura y la escucha son claves en el aprendizaje de idiomas. Hay que darle la oportunidad al estudiante de elegir un libro que le guste y que esté escrito o traducido al idioma que se desea aprender.  

Las recomendaciones son del profesor universitario Stephen Krashen, que ha escrito libros, artículos, y publicado videos en YouTube acerca de su método de adquisición de idiomas llamada aporte comprensible. Les comparto dos de sus entrevistas por YouTube, presione en entrevista 1 y entrevista 2 para poder verlos. 

We can include other keys for the students can learn and develop their language skills in classes, such as:

a.  Entertainment, interest, and pleasure: Students have to be the center of the class because of that we should give them the opportunity to read and listen to topics they feel connected. 

b. Easy to teach and learn: Theoretical topics should be short and easy, and you should include time to practice and games. 

c. Storytelling: Short stories are simple, easy, and entertaining, reading them, listening to them and creating them in class are keys to learning languages. 

d. Try not to correct mistakes: This advice is clear every person is in the process of learning, so we do not have to interrupt them. If the student asks you can help, but when he is not asking, it is better to give space. Knowing when to help is the key to learning languages.  

e. Have a stunning library:  Reading and listening are keys to language learning. You have to give the student the opportunity to choose a book that is likable and written or translated to the target language.

The recommendations are from professor Stephen Krashen who has written books, articles, and published videos on YouTube about his method of language acquisition called Comprehensible Input. I share with you 2 of his interviews on YouTube, press on interview 1 and interview 2 to watch them.  

Práctica con Freerice. 🍚🙌

En el siguiente video, tu aprenderás como usar Freerice para practicar vocabulario en español. Si no sabes, Freerice es una página web creada por la Naciones Unidas para luchar contra el hambre en el mundo dando granos de arroz a la gente hambrienta. En este sitio, tu tendrás que responder las preguntas para demostrar tus conocimientos del idioma español. También, para empezar tienes que crear una cuenta para poder practicar. En la descripción del video, tu puedes hacer una cuenta en Freerice dándole clic al enlace. Después, te recomiendo practicar por al menos 10 minutos. 

Después de practicar con Freerice, te sugiero hacer una hoja de práctica en el cual tu tienes que recordar las palabras aprendidas  y hacer una oración con cada palabra, tu puedes encontrar esta hoja al final de la descripción del video. También, tu puedes crear un cuento usando estas palabras. Ciertamente, ¡sería increíble! Además, se le brindará un certificado al estudiante por haber participado. Si quieres dar certificados, solo tienes que descargarlos aquí y aquí.

In the following video, you will learn how to use Freerice to practice vocabulary in Spanish. If you do not know, Freerice is a website created by the UN to fight hunger around the world by giving grains of rice to hungry people. On this website, you will have to answer questions in order to prove your knowledge of the Spanish language. Also, to start you have to create an account to be able to practice. In the video`s description, you can make your Freerice account by clicking the link. After that, I recommend you practice for at least 10 minutes.

After practice with Freerice, I suggest making a practice sheet in which you have to remember the learned words and make a sentence with each word, you can find this sheet at the end of the video`s description. Also, you can create a short story using these words. Indeed, that would be awesome! Besides, the student will receive a certificate for having participated. Este método se hizo para tener un resumen de cada clase ya sea en la escuela, el colegio, la universidad, un curso o tutoría. Además, la idea principal es poder tomar notas concisas en una sola hoja para cada clase. Por lo tanto, este documento es útil para trabajar durante y después de la clase. Les puede servir mucho en su aprendizaje del  español y otras materias. 

This method was done to get a summary of each class either at the primary school, high school, college, a course, or tutoring. Besides, the main idea is to be able to take short notes on just one page for each class. So, this sheet is useful to work during and after the class. Este juego se diseñó para escribir un cuento o un diálogo de una manera muy creativa. Por lo tanto, vamos a escoger los elementos del cuento o del diálogo al azar. Después, tienes que escribir el cuento o el diálogo a partir de los elementos elegidos. Además, esta actividad puede hacerse en clase o dejarlo como tarea. Indudablemente, ¡es una actividad sencilla y divertida! 

This game was designed to write a short story or a dialogue in a very creative way. So, we are going to choose the elements of the short story or the dialogue by chance. After that, you have to write the short story or dialogue according to the elements chosen. Besides, this activity can be done in class or leave it as homework. Indeed, it is a funny simple activity! 

Crea tu cuento con ayuda de ChatGPT. 🧑‍💻 

En esta actividad, se va a explicar los elementos de un cuento, y luego el estudiante tiene que escoger esos elementos. Después, se va a utilizar ChatGPT en la computadora portátil (puedes acceder a la página aquí) o en la tableta también (puedes descargar la aplicación en la tienda).  Además, se va a dar una sugerencia al ChatGPT de crear un cuento con los elementos escogidos. Finalmente, se le va a dar un toque final al cuento con ayuda del estudiante para que sea único y especial.  

In this activity, it is going to explain the elements of a short story, and then the student has to choose those elements. After that, it is going to use ChatGPT in the laptop (you can access to the website by pressing here) or in the tablet as well (you can download the application in the store). Besides, it is going to type a prompt in ChatGPT for creating a short story with the chosen elements. Finally, it will give a final touch to the short story with help from the student to make it unique and special.

En esta actividad, se explica los números del 1 al millón, continentes, océanos, países, nacionalidades, idiomas y monedas para finalmente poder jugar con las tarjetas de las banderas de las naciones del mundo.  

In this activity, it is explained the numbers from 1 to a million, continents, oceans, countries, nationalities, languages, and currencies to play with the world nations flags flashcards. 

Leer y escuchar cuentos de bilingualcerebros 📖 

En esta actividad, vamos a leer y escuchar cuentos del canal de YouTube Bilingualcerebros. Primero, el estudiante tiene que escoger el cuento de su preferencia. Luego, vamos a ver el video. Después, el estudiante tiene que leer el cuento en español en voz alta y más adelante, el tutor lee la traducción al inglés. Por último, el estudiante responde las preguntas del cuento en español. 

In this activity, we are going to read and listen to short stories from the Bilingualcerebros YouTube Channel. First, the student has to choose her/his fovorite short story. Then, we are going to watch the video. After that, the student has to read the short story out lound and then, the tutor reads the English translation. Lastly, the student answers the short story´s questions in Spanish.

En esta actividad se va aprender mucho vocabulario fácil de comprender acerca de la comida como cosas básicas de comida, carnes, frutas, verduras, pescados y mariscos. Es importante mencionar que hay un documento donde aprenderemos mucho acerca de los pescados y mariscos. Luego, vamos a aprender de lugares de comida como la cocina, el restaurante y el comedor. Además, aprenderemos expresiones de comida. Por último, vamos a leer y probar platillos de otras países como Costa Rica, España, México y Colombia.
