Fine motor skills require precision and coordination so work closely with our vision and the sense of touch.

The opening and closing motion of cutting with scissors helps children develop the small muscles in their hands otherwise known as fine motor skills. These muscles are crucial for holding a pencil or crayons and gripping and manipulating objects. You can use old magazines, playdoh, string, etc. to practice cutting.

Here is a quick and easy activity that will build those little muscles in your child's fingers. It’s a finger workout tearing paper and creating a piece of art! Materials needed: white paper, any other color paper, a crayon, and glue.
