Beginning Sounds

Let's play a beginning sound game together. I will need you and your child's help. We will match the letter sound “A” with pictures that begin with the letter sound “A.” We will also do the same with letter sound “B” and the pictures that begin with the letter sound “B”. Don't worry, I will help move the letters, all you have to do is push play, look, listen, and make a smart guess! Let's play!

Letter Hunt

You can learn about letters in lots of different ways. Try going on a letter hunt. You can cut out letters from magazines and newspapers or use magnetic letters for this activity. Hide the letters around your house or outside. Once your child has found all of the letters, encourage them to spell their name. earning the names of the letters is just one of the many important foundational skills that students need to develop on their journey to becoming readers.

Letter Sounds

This video shows a literacy activity you can do at home. Use recycled kleenex box cubes to make homemade linking chart dice. Snip letters out of magazines, cardboard food boxes and place them on a tray. Use paper/pencil, write online off boards, Magna Doodles, or Boogie Boards so your child can practice writing the letters that they roll using the literacy dice.



Name Puzzles

This is a video showing you how you can make a Name Puzzle out of two pieces of construction paper at home. This can help give your child practice matching the letters of their name. Have your child name each letter as they place it on the paper puzzle. You can also point and say each letter in their name along with them, if they need extra support and help in naming each letter. Have fun playing with letters and naming letters at home!
