Compression using Activepresenter

If the video is recorded with a very high quality and frames per second, its size could be an issue. It will be hard to upload for you and download for students. A nice thumb rule is to have 1-2 MB of file size per minute of the video. There is a simple trick to reduce the size using Activepresenter. The steps are given below.

Step 1: Download and open Activepresenter

  1. Download and install Activepresenter on your desktop/laptop.

  2. Open Activepresenter on your system.

Step 2: Open a blank project

  1. Click on the "Blank Project" link on the top left.

  2. A new empty project will open up.

  3. You can save it and using the "Save As" link on the "ActivePresenter" tab at the top of the screen.

Step 3: Insert the video in the slide

  1. Use the "Insert" tab to include the video, which you want to compress, in the current slide.

  2. Use the "from file" option, select the desired video. It will be shown in the slide.

  3. Save the Activepresenter file again.

Step 4: Export the file to mp4

  1. Use the "Video" option in the "Export" tab. A new window will open up.

  2. Select the desired fps, quality, file type (mp4) and location.

  3. We recommend 10fps, and 40-50% quality seems to be sufficient.

You are done. The finished file is in the location where you saved it.
