Grew up in an extremely strict & religious town with "traditional" beliefs; those in power were regarded with cult-like reverence and essentially ran the show. Those that didn't align with the common beliefs/rules, or didn't  present/conduct themselves in a way that made the cult town look good  were often reprimanded, openly mocked, or outcast.

He was often scolded for his interest in the arts in general, it being deemed non-productive, and especially so for his love for the so-called "devil music"

He generally didn't buy into the whole idea that the leaders were trying to push onto everyone, and wasn't well liked because of it

Asra and his small group of fellow outcasts eventually got sick of the abuse and decided to cut their losses and flee in the middle of the night, bringing just their cash and whatever they could carry

Stuck together out of necessity at first but ultimately found healing and family in each other. 

Him and his little clan now live a semi-nomadic life and focus on enjoying life more than anything, and Asra knows as long as he has his friends with him he can find happiness anywhere, and take whatever is thrown at him.

Very introspective and emotionally attuned cet but has a hard time thinking with his head over vs his heart
