Our birth doulas partner with you during your pregnancy to learn about you and your personal birth vision. They are a constant stream of contact. You will feel surrounded by support, easing the emotional experience of birth as well as the physical. Whether a birth is completely unmedicated or medically complex our doulas will be with you, creating a space where the hormones of labor can work at their best. Our doulas experience and knowledge will bring you greater comfort and progression in labor through things like position, comforting touch, counter pressure and breathing techniques. They will work along side you and your birthing partner, strengthening your experience as a whole.
A postpartum doula provides home visits in which they nurture your family, offering non-judgmental support. We assess and care for your needs and educate by offering research based information and options, modeling things like; feeding, baby care, sleep habits, soothing techniques, baby wearing and self care. They can also help with light household tasks, organization and meal prep to give you time to focus on bonding with baby, rest and healing. No need to tidy up, I meet you right where you are. So let me soothe baby and fold some laundry while you take a shower and a moment to just breathe for a change.
Megan will come directly to you in the privacy of your home, or meet you at our office. She will talk with you and assess a feed while there. As a trained Postpartum Doula she can troubleshoot and potential issues such as latch and positioning. She is packed with knowledge and evidence based advice that can help you reach your goals. She is understanding of the joys as well as the hardships of breastfeeding and is also there to actively listen to your needs.
This is going to be one of the most exciting but also most stressful times of your life. Imagine it with more rest, less worry, household help, trouble shooting/options, reassurance and an empathetic ear. While most people are going to be all about baby after birth, we have the whole family at heart. We place our primary focus on mom, believing that a happy, healthy mom equals a happy, healthy baby.
A doula provided emotional and physical support services but does not perform medical tasks and is not medically trained. However we are trained on what to look for and knowing when to refer you to a medical provider if needed.
