Babymoon

The summer season is officially in full swing, and I am so excited about it. Summer helps us create so many memories, from going on family vacations to just being able to sit on the porch with the ones you love most and drink a fresh glass of lemonade. And, if you're pregnant it can bring an even more exciting experience, a babymoon.

A babymoon is a celebratory trip with your partner, to enjoy the time and connect before the arrival of the baby. Summer can be a really exciting time to take your babymoon, it can be whatever you imagine it to be. A weekend at a close by beach, or a week relaxing in the mountains! The recommended time to take your vacay would be during the 2nd trimester, this is normally the easiest of the trimesters, while most symptoms have subsided. Traveling while pregnant should always be discussed with your provider beforehand, to go over any restrictions you may have. Once you've gotten the all clear, pack your bags for a trip you will remember forever!

A few things to remember while on your trip however, while planning your destination also look into which medical facilities are nearby. Of course, we are hoping to not need them, but being familiar with where they are just in case is good to know. Plan to make frequent stops. Potty breaks and breaks to stretch your legs are important, try to make it a fun part of the experience. Who can find the most interesting resting point? Who can find the funniest souvenir? While you're having all of that fun, don't forget to stay hydrated. I am sure you've been told this throughout your entire pregnancy, but it really is important, especially if you're doing lots of walking or going to a warmer destination. Carrying nutritious snacks with you can be helpful too. Things like peanut butter cups with apples, or granola bars, and even a good nut mix to snack on during the car ride or while sightseeing during your trip.  On the ride there, seatbelt safety is important. It is recommended to move your seat further back, and wear the lower strap of the seatbelt under your belly, closest to the hips.

Now that all of the planning is complete, it's time to pack your bags and enjoy your vacation for two, or three, technically? Engulf yourself in relaxation, love and connection to celebrate the new baby that will soon make his or her arrival!
