Discovery 3rd Term Update
Dear Parents,
We have been closed for about 5 weeks now and we are not sure yet when schools will be allowed to reopen.
This has been tough for parents who are suddenly homeschooling and working and for our teachers too, many are in the same situation. We are indeed, in this together and the Discovery team is committed to continue to partner with parents to sustain learning outcomes and ultimately make the most of this challenging season.
Our third term was supposed to start on April 14th 2020, but it has been postponed indefinitely due to the school closure extension.
We will continue distance learning through April (30th) as we wait for authorisation to re-open.
Should the school closure continue beyond April, we shall have May holidays which will be taken from the June/July holidays.
Term 3 will start late and end late depending on how long the school closure lasts. The summer holiday will shorten.
For example, should we open in the middle of May we will close in the third week of July.
Do let your child's teacher know if you have concerns about the tentative 3rd term extension into the summer holiday. These adjustments inevitably disrupt our school calendar and they have even more adverse effects on the school financial sustainability and staff well being. We are indeed hoping for the situation to normalise as soon as possible.
Discovery home learning support ends next week Thursday the 30th of April.
This week and the next do *engage your child's teacher(s) and exhaust any concerns* you may have. Reach out, call our staff and ensure you have mastered use and access of our tools including the math and literacy tools. This is especially important for ages 4+.
As soon as schools are authorised to reopen, we shall communicate a term 3 start date to all parents.

Should the school closure extend further into May and June we shall make further calendar and operational adjustments and inform parents (by the middle of May).
