Anytime we can get our students thinking, talking or writing about their learning is a positive. Using the podcast as a way to engage our students and allow them to share their thoughts to the "world" can be a cool thing. There are several ways to use this in the classroom. One way I could see this being used in the classroom is having the students share what they learned about a particular topic. They could read or share a report or piece of writing. We could have the teacher (or student) interview someone. They could interview another student about some content they are learning. They could interview different staff or family. There are many ways to use this. I am interested in seeing if I can make it work.
It will easily hit many, if not all, of the ISTE standards and having it meet the common core standards...ummm. Yep. Besides your speaking/listening standards, and some of the College and Career anchor standards, it would be pretty simple to engage most content areas. Math may be a little difficult in trying to teach a procedure, but that struggle may lead to some deeper learning for our students.
