This is a lesson that compares the change a character goes through in the course of the book. This will help students read more carefully to look for textual clues about the character in this story. We will be comparing the character at the beginning of the story to the end. As I look at the lesson, it doesn't have a lot of technology integration during the lesson, but more on the back end with the assessment and learning reflection.
My hope with this lesson is that the kids are doing most of the heavy lifting. They are the ones discussing, and sharing their ideas. The challenge I anticipate will be making sure the lower level students are able to contribute and fell valued through the process. I think the Kagan structures will help with this. Having the students construct their own understanding of the text will be valuable in helping them apply this same skill to future lessons and reading.
