Reflection: My project is to include the Interactive Whiteboard (IWB) into a lesson. I have never used an IWB and so that created a challenge to use something I've never used in a new and innovative way. I am not entirely confident that I did that but I made a good effort and, at the very least, it is a good stepping off point to something better.
This lesson is an ELA lesson for 2nd-3rd Grade learning about nouns, and more specifically, common and proper nouns. I created a Slide presentation and added some components to the lesson that would be more difficult using just a computer/projector. The students have a matching activity, drag and drop and writing down words on the IWB and into the actual lesson. The presentation ends with students doing a Quizizz to assess individual learning.
I think I got to at least the Modification level of SAMR, with some of the lesson reaching into the Redefinition component. I think having the ability for the students to directly interact with the Slides is something that could not have done (not easily anyway) in the past before some of our more current technology. I think this is definitely something we can do without the IWB, largely because we can do some of these same things with our phones and some mirroring technology. I look forward to making more of my lessons, even without the IWB.
