'Beyond' Practices

These Saturday morning sessions at St Peter's, Derby, give an opportunity to try methods that are a bit different to the usual selection.

• 'Beyond Plain Bob Minor' practices cover Plain Minor methods

• 'Beyond Grandsire Triples' practices cover Plain Triples and Major methods

The focus is on ringing rather than teaching, so we ask that methods are learned before the practice. However, it is a supportive atmosphere, and we don't expect you to get everything right first time! People will give you hints and tips, or stand with you if necessary.

There only one or two methods planned for each practice - if two are planned, then it is OK to only learn one of them. Examples of previous methods can be seen here.

The practices are open to anyone, as long as they are:

• keen to try something different

• competent at Plain Bob Minor (for the 'Beyond Plain Bob Minor' practices), or Plain Bob Major / Grandsire Triples (for the 'Beyond Grandsire Triples' practices).

• prepared to learn at least one of the methods before coming to the practice - we want to use the time for ringing, not teaching!

There is no charge, but a small donation is appreciated.

The bells are silenced for the practice, with sound generated by our ringing simulator.

The church door will usually be locked due to the city centre location but there is a doorbell which will sound in the ringing room. But please try to be on time so that people do not need to keep going up and down the stairs to let in late arrivals! Please see the Location page for more details of access arrangements.
