The Derby City Centre Ringers are committed to providing a safe environment in the tower at St Peter's, Derby. These guidelines are for any non-ringing visitors to the tower.
This information is available as a booklet in the tower, and can be downloaded as an A5 PDF file.
Follow instructions from the ringer in charge of the event.
Do not touch any ropes unless invited to do so by the ringer in charge.
Be careful on the stairs. Take your time and mind your head when leaving the ringing room or bell chamber.
Do not go up the stairs beyond the ringing room unless accompanied by one of the ringers.
While the bells are ringing, remain seated unless instructed otherwise. Keep your hands away from the ropes and your feet on the floor. Do not walk between the ropes or distract the ringers.
You can take photographs or video recordings for personal use, but please do not use a flash while the bells are being rung. No people aged under 18 are to be included without written consent from them and their parents.
You may be asked to provide your name and address for an event register as part of our safeguarding procedures. This information may be kept indefinitely. A camera may also be in use to automatically capture images of people entering the ringing room.
