If you want to bring a team for an outing, peal, quarter peal, ringing simulator practice or similar events, then contact us to arrange the details. Will will do our best to accommodate you, but the city centre location results in limits on the amount of ringing that can take place, especially during office hours. This is not a problem if you want to use the simulator.
See the Getting Here page for details of how to get to the church and nearby parking. Note that there is a climb of 47 steps up a spiral staircase to reach the ringing room.
Due to the city centre location, it is essential that the doors to the church are locked or guarded during your visit, unless there is another event in the church which requires the doors to be open. If the doors are locked or guarded, you must not let anyone into the church unless they are part of your group - if they have permission to be there, then they will have their own arrangements for gaining access.
You will need to either comply with our tower safeguarding procedures, or submit your own procedures for approval prior to any event taking place.
You will also need to ensure that your team comply with our procedures for ringing during the pandemic.
You will need to provide us with a list of people attending, signed by the person in charge of the event. You will also need to let us know which of the people attending are under 18.
The person running the ringing must be aware of our safety guidelines for a ringing event.
If you will have non-ringing visitors with you, then they must be made aware of the safety guidelines. Handouts are available in the ringing room, and can also be downloaded here.
A notice with details of emergency exit routes is on the back of the ringing room door. It can also be downloaded here.
There is a wide range of food outlets within a few minutes walk of the tower.
A leaflet giving directions to a selection of recommended pubs is available in the tower. Some are within walking distance, others are a few minute's drive. The leaflet can also be downloaded here. For a wider selection of pubs in the area, see CAMRA's What Pub website.
Details of other towers in the area can be seen on the Blueline web site.
If you want to use the bells as part of a training event or association meeting, then you may be interested in the meeting facilities that can be provided, with rooms suitable for 12 to 150 people. Presentation equipment and catering facilities can also be provided by the church. See the venue hire page on the church website for details.
